My first post, so please be gentle.
I'm currently studying Information Technology at hiigh School and have been asked to find out how certain sites work.
Our tutor has pointed out the massivly famous "giveaway" sites.
What i'm trying to find out is:
What kind f back end systems tdo these sites use?
how do they make each account Unique
How do they attach one account through to another?
I know these questions might seem a little basic for you more experienced members, but i didnt think anyone would mind helping.
Thank you in advance.
Andrew.

There are a number of ways to find out more about a site. Back end systems? Netcraft [toolbar.netcraft.com] has a little utility you can use. Often you can have a look at the extension and get some idea of any possible server-side languages being used, but that is not always a true indicator and not entirely accurate -- filename extensions are not always what they appear.
how do they make each account Unique
This is often handled through Session management. Either a cookie or some other form of unique session identifier is incorporated to identify and track an individual throughout the time they are on that particular web site.

Lost me on this one ;)
