Looking for help in choosing web design/marketing service.

What's best... homestead, sitebuildit or web.com?

Want to create my own website but do not have technical ability, so looking to use a simple point & click type service such as homestead or sitebuildit or web.com.

After researching these companies, it seems that sitebuildit has the total package (to not only build my site but to help with marketing/seo/search engine submission/etc...).

Can anyone help in pointing me in the right direction? Thanks...

James

I understand why you would want to use a site builder but let me offer an alternative...

A content management system (CMS) A CMS is a script that you install on your web space. You can then add and edit content using nothign more than your web browser. There are a lot of free content management systems out there, you may be able to find one that suits your needs.

You might want to take a look at www.opensourcecms.com where you can try some systems out without having to install them.

I agree with mack, get a good CMS such as Joomla/Mambo or Typo3 (High learning curve but a very good CMS). You can read these forums and get tons of info on marketing / seo and such. Get your site full of content and give the users a reason to comeback and then start some marketing campaigns.

How much tech experience do you have?

If you're not tech savvy, host remotely, and definitely go with Joomla.

If you're teetering on the edge of competency (lol), Joomla will help you understand database-driven web sites without forcing you to be an expert immediately. It'll grow with your skills.

There are websites out there (SiteGround, my choice) that let you choose between preinstalled CMS packages, but I keep on running back to Joomla.
