Hi all,

I have just this morning posted my first website ans was wondering what the first few things I should do are...

I intend to get a good ranking on google etc and I know some of the SEO tips, but prior to that what directories should I be registering with?...any particular order?...how long will it take to become registered? are there any changes I should make to my website in order to increase the chances of/speed of becoming listed?

My website is a small scale ecommerce site (but well designed I hired someone for this) if this helps your replies...

Thanks in advance...Id be grateful for any advice.

I had no clue how to get registered with any of the search engines and somehow I am. LOL People tell me I am on google, search.com, and some others. I know I did not pay for any of them. So I wouldnt suggest that to anyone.
Is your site for a business or just a personal site? Mine is for personal stuff... so it doesn't financially affect me if I don't get alot of hits.... that may be another thing to consider...

Good Luck with the new site!

As I understand it the search engines will gradually list you as the'r spider bots find you. But what else should I do to speed this process up...
My site is commercial so my hit rate is important to me.

Thanks
