Hi everybody , I am new to webdesign and thinking about building a website. What would be better for SEO starting a blog or a forum? What is the difference from the search engines point of view? What platform would you suggest for either for multiple users? Thanks in advance for your response!

Hi, welcome to WW. If you are just starting out, the most "painless" option would be a blog. Blogs are good because they are easy to start, and it doesn't take long to build content. The hard part for most people are staying "on topic."
A forum is easy to set up, but getting traffic to it is very difficult.
As far as platform, I don't know your skill level, but you can always try blogger.com.
