Hi,
After hanging around here for a month or so i've decided to do a website.
It will be on something that has interested me for about 30 years. The competition doesn't seem to great when i looked, i don't mean the quality of sites but the actual content.
It's taking me an evening to do one page of content, so this ain't gonna be quick!
I've bought the url and got a book from the library on (x)html/css which is excellent, it's by Wendy Willard, if anyones interested.

I'm gonna upload it when i think i have enough content, probably about 50 pages and it's something i can keep adding to over time.

Thank's for the inspiration, everyone!

John

Last saturday night, we decided not to go out so i did a page of my site. After going into the living room at 10.00 the wife said, "Oh, you realised i'm still here then?" , all sarky like.

What can i do? It's gotta be done.

Welcome to the dark side.

Like it has been said it will ruin your social life, but then who needs one anyway. Web development is a truely great industry. It's the one area of modern media that has really opened the doors to enable anyone to create content that is truely globaly accessible.

Tip for keeping the wives, gfs, etc. happy. Work on your site(s) after they go to bed.

They may think you are working on pron or something since you only work after their out...but at least you can give them plenty of attention while they are conscious.

Once you are making enough money for the web to be your day job, then you can work on your sites when they're at work and you actually sleep at night too. That's my hope/plan.

I just need to boost my traffic by 100 times and then I'm home free!

If I could make enough off of websites to live, then I am going to take her on a nice long vacation. (As long as I can bring a laptop) :)

That aint gona keep then happy for long lol

The problem I found with that approach is at night the time just seams to rush by. Before you know it, youre going to bed when you should be getting up. hehe

Lol, I dont see how if you dont go to bed with her she is happy.

And I am the same way Mack. I can't go on the computer for a "quick half hour" on work nights because it will turn out to be 2am before I know it, and since I commute to work and start at 8 its never a good thing :)
