My boss wants me to develop a company profile and product introduction Promotion on CD for his Clients to view.
He wants some flashy cd to impress his clients, and I don't have a clue where to start on something like this.
Do I just create a website type of page and put on a cd.
I am working with Dreamweaver and Frontpage and have a learning curve with both.
He received an interactive CD from a vendor showcasing their product line that was very impressive. He just popped in the Cd and recieved a really great presentation.
He wants to here a plan this week to get something startd, I don't even know what its called in the industry.
Please HELP! Got a deadline and don't know what the heck to do!
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like your going to have to start by getting your boss to purchase Macromedia Director.
Probably the best CD-Rom authoring software available, but unfortunately, not the easiest to learn!
You might want to start here [macromedia.com].

Simply say that a Flash presentation would do the trick nicely, and that he/she/it should solicit bids from Flash developers and, based upon their portfolios, choose the one with a good Price/Quality ratio.
(Notice how the above sentence doesn't say you can't do it? It only says what your boss can do.)

but this new fad is kinda neat, and might help the project:
business card shaped CD-R blanks
New? LOL, it has been around for at least 3 years.
Kimmiton, you could do a website and put it on CD, but if your boss wants something flashy, why not give it to him? As SlyGuy wrote, the state-of-the-art software is Director, but I guess for your purposes, Flash would do and it is much easier to learn.
Flash would do and it is much easier to learn.
While that's true, Kimmiton is having difficulties with Dreamweaver and FP. Also, while I find Flash MX easier than it's previous versions, there are still many issues to learn about animation for saving bandwidth, not to mention the issue of talent and style.
Kimmiton seems a little daunted, and sometimes we have to admit that we cannot, at our present level of skill, do something. And that it is best to hire a pro/freelancer.
My brother has Flash and said that he would help me!
As far as my boss goes,he's my husband and we are on a tight budget so I'm it.
I built one website and was told it was very good, I just need to take a class to understand HTML etc...
Good luck to you all, and Happy new year!

There is a bit about publishing a site on a CD in the Goodies section
