Hi, How do I find domain names for free or cheap to use for a family website that is basically informational? I have a host already, but I just need a domain name. What are ways to get a decent domain name free or cheap?

If you want to register a specific domain, go to a registrar like godaddy, networksolutions, tucowes, etc and in their order box , substitute the appropriate surname for one of the following examples and order the domain if it's available.

yoursurname.com
firstnamelastname.com
surnameontheweb.com

Or go to a freebie site like geocities or freeweb or bravehart or 50megsfree and end up with something like

yoursurname.freebieweb.com
firstnamelastname.freebieweb.com
surnameontheweb.freebieweb.comcom

Another option is that sum hosts will give you a free domain when you sign up to host with them. This is another option that your current host may already have set up.
