Is free webhosting worth it?

Hi all, I am a newbie here.

Would like to post a questions to the seniors.

While searching on how to create a website and I have come across a [free] webhosting service.

Can anyone advice if the free hosting service is worthly?
The terms and condition states that they will be inserting banners in the website if I use their tools to create the website. I was thinking of placing googles ad in my website.

Will this affect me when I sent in my website for verification with googles?

Pls advice.

It's not wise to host anything important to you on a free service. Because you are paying them nothing they owe you nothing and can dump you anytime they please.

If they're going to put their own ads on your site, it's very possible they won't allow you to add your own google ads -- check that out carefully.

Beyond that, I agree with Longhaired Genius.

Ogerik ..TOS says no links to hosting companies and no discussion of who is the best host etc ..

free hosters with banners is not serious ..

I think you honestly get what you paid for.

Arn't free sites also penalized in the engines as well? Iw as under the assumption they never ranked highly (except for old ones).

Free sites aren't regarded as "authoritative". For instance, a student doing research would likely not be allowed to reference a freebie site as a valid informational source.

I don't know if that results in search-engine penalties, but that would seem a reasonable conclusion.
