What is the "301 redirect" or google hijacking?

I saw some massive thread on this board a while back about the google 301 redirect and that is was possible for websites to be hijacked.

Can somebody please explain this to me? Is there something I need to do to protect me site from being hijacked? Has google corrected the problem yet?

This seems like a really serious issue to me.

It's not a 301 redirect and it wasn't a "Google" hijacking, what you read about was a 302 redirect that some unscrupulous sites used to hijack pages.

There has been much discussion about the 302 redirect, dup content and hijacking.
Try this thread [webmasterworld.com] or this Google search of WebmasterWorld posts [google.com].
