Hello all!

I'm looking for a Online Photo Album software for a family website I'm building. I'm willing to pay, it doesn't have to be free. Free is always good though! :) Also, I don't want to host the photos on the provider's website, I have enough space on my own server.

I've found a few tools on the web, but I was looking for any references that you may be able to help me out with based on your own or others' experience. Basically, the features I'm looking for are:

-Security of photos
-Easy upload tool
-Easy album creation interface

Hotscripts.com is always a good place to start whan you are looking for this sort of thing. I think a photo gallery script may be just what you are looking for.

What you do is upload the script to your own server and then upload all your photos into a folder within the script. There are a lot of scripts like this and many are indeed free.

Generaly speaking what they do is store all the images in an images folder, then when a user accesses the script it shows the images in thumbnail format (smaller versions) the user can then click on a thumbnail to view the full size image. Genraly these scripts allow you to compile your photos into albums or collections.

We cant really recomennd any specific script but I think you will fnd somethign to suit your needs.

Do a search for "php gallery" on google and you will see some popular choices. Seems like I see these a lot lately.

To make it easier to install you can look for hosting that includes installable modules, so that you can set up the gallery using one click. Very handy for beginners and experts alike.

'Fantastico' is one set of installable modules that includes several good gallery appilcations.

I hope this is OK to mention?
