Making a local copy of an image on a server? Can you explain this?

What exactly does it mean? Plesse help.

Hey guys:)

This might sound like a dumb question, but i really need to make sure. Remember, i'm somewhat of a newbie.

I am placing an image on a site and the site i'm useing it from says if your site has alot of visitors, to make a copy of the image on your server and refer to the local copy of the image in the code.

Q.1. Does this just basicly mean to place a copy of the image in my hosting area and not link to their site as the place to download the image?

Yes. They're asking you not to hotlink to the image on their site. Just copy the image and put it on your own server.
