I am currently doing the CIW Foundation v5 as I thought this might be a good place to start.

I have been told that .NET is up and coming and could be very useful to learn, but I have found it hard looking for courses. Most courses I have come across seem to be course completion certs rather than a qualification. Is it best to have a qualification?

Can anyone help or even give me any ideas?

every language i have taught myself in the past i have done it by buying a book and working through it, also by doing tutorials on the internet (there are tons of em).

I have recently started learning .NET, and to be honest it is pretty similar to the way asp works. I found that learning asp was quite easy, maybe you should take a look at asp first then do .NET

I have been looking at free tutorials, but wasn't sure if I could find a position in Web Development without a qualification.

the best qualification is your portfolio.

Degrees are junk in this business.

The sad fact is by the time you get a qualification the work you done to get it is out dated. Like was said, the best qualification you can get in this industry is your portfolio.

Thats the real proof that you have what it takes.
