I have been open for business for roughly a month now and have generated just over 3,000 hits. I still have not had a sale. How long did it take everyone to start seeing some sales? I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. I am getting listed well on MSN and I am using PPC w/ Google that is bringing me some traffic. Can anyone give me some ideas? I know my link popularity is low, but how do people get to over 10,000 incoiming links? I just need some good direction. thanks

If you are having problems with sales, you should be doing testing on your site to see where the visitors are leaving - whether it is shopping cart abandonment, or poor presentation of your products etc.

if you had a regular store open only a month, how many sales would you expect? A regular store gets drive by traffic, maybe some lookers and peekers as well, but very few sales.

It's a matter of trust. People will buy from you if they trust your operation. It's why people buy franchises - already a trusted name.

A web business is much harder to get going because you are not just competing with a dry cleaner three blocks away. You're competing with MILLIONS of other stores available at the click of a button. Are you selling anything unique? or are you just selling the same stuff I can get from a hundred other websites?

As Billy Joel sang, "It's a matter of trust."
