For starters, I found you by seeking a justification to upgrade to a newer version of Front Page from the 2002 version. (My current site was totally created with this version). For some time now, I have wanted to attempt the usage of CSS. I noted that the newer version of FP indicated CSS help, however, with my site a conglomerate of many applications, (and no doubt, many no, no's) should I attempt it?
I am not fooling myself that this would not be a daunting task as I would not even realize the first step to take.
Thanks-
Norma

Welcome to Webmaster World.
Sure, Frontpage has excellent support for css, I've been using FP & CSS 1 since about '97. The latest version has very good support for css 2.
Just be sure to configure FP to work most efficiently with css. The most important settings can be found under Tools > Page Options under the Authoring and Code Snippets tabs.
There's some upfront work you're going to have to do, such as deciding what flavors of html and css you are going to use. The best place for help on these is WW's CSS Forum [webmasterworld.com]. The folks over there can certainly get you started in the right direction.
After you make those decisions you can go back to the Authoring tab and check css 1.0 for formatting and css 2.0 for positioning if you're going to use it. After you've decided which doctype you're going to use, under the Code Snippets tab, you can either modify an existing doctype shortcut or create a new one. A word here, the doctypes that FP includes are abbreviated and don't include the required URL part of the doctype. You can find a complete list of valid doctypes at the W3C doctype page [w3.org].
That should be enough to get you thinking about more questions. For anything Frontpage specific you can always take a walk over to the WYSIWYG and Text Code Editors forums [webmasterworld.com].
Come over and post a question (with Code/HTML) in the CSS forums and I'm sure you will get a response as you work your way throught it.
It is a long and winding road to convert a site from a table layout to a CSS layout (CSS has a big learning curve) but once you dredge through it all you will find that it's not as hard as it first may seem.
In about 2 months, I've gone from a daily question poster, to a daily thread reader (every once and a while I end up helping someone with their question)
