No need to submit to search engines, but you should be getting inbound links to your website and learn basic SEO techniques. Also, you may want to use PPC to promote your site.

Welcome to Webmasterworld!

Don't pay for search engine submission, it's a waste. Just get other sites to link to your site, and the search engines will find you. Consider Google Adwords or other PPC advertising for traffic, or build content that attracts visitors, see these posts:

Which cover this quite well.

One thing that I have noticed over the years is the fact that you can't force people to visit your website.
No matter how many search engines your listed with, no matter how high your pageranking is, if people don't search for what you supply then they simply won't visit your website.
There are no magic bullets, no magical Keywords that will bring visitors.
You can be listed at the top of every search engine, directory of index in the world, you can have heaps of inward links but if you don't have what they are looking for it just doesn't work.

Hey thanks for the input this online marketing is quite the learning experience! There is alot more to it than i imagined but it's all good, even if it makes you want to bang your head against the wall now and again!
thanks,
