Can the google bot and other SE bots link through image links?

Is there any other advantages/disadvantages in the way you create your links through your website (i.e. normal links, imagelinks, javascript, redirects)

Thanks in advance

Bots can crawl an image link no problem. Likewise with text links. JS links can cause problems. In terms of redirects, 301 302 etc will be followed as the server intended.

There can be a slight disadvantage to using an image link. But you can avoid this by adding an alt tag.

add alt="short description of image" to the image tag. Use good keywords!
