Hello,

I read with interest the post about what software to get, FrontPage or Dreamweaver? Unfortunately I didn't read what I wanted out of it because people were comparing other versions of FrontPage.

I have a webdesigner, whom in my opinion, does excellent outdoor related websites. His graphics are awesome.(uses different program for graphics) He uses FrontPage 5.0. Is 5.0 the same as 2003?

I am not sure what to get, FrontPage 2003 or Dreamweaver. I saw where several replied in the other thread, but they were not talking about the 2003 version. I would like to know what your opinions are on either one.

Price is not much of an issue, but FrontPage 2003 is very reasonable.

I am also concerned because I'm a complete rookie at this stuff and some people are talking about that one should learn to do their own coding first.(I wouldn't have a clue)

Your assessment on these two programs would be appreciated. What are the advantages, disadvantages of each? FrontPage 2003 & Dreamweaver (similar version)

Thanks for your opinions.

I can't seem to edit or delete my own post above. I see no options for this on my side.

However, I have found other related threads and believe I have come to some useful conclusions and the answers I was looking for.

No need to reply.

Hi, I'm a bit late replying to this, and I know you said there was no need to reply. But I just had to.

I started using FrontPage 2000, then FrontPage 5.0 (the one that came with Office XP). Then last year I took a web design course and they introduced us to Dreamweaver MX2004. The learning curve was a bit steep, but once you know it, Dreamweaver, in my opinion, is far superior. I like it because it has lots more features over FrontPage.

The good thing about FrontPage is that if you know how to use MS Word or other Microsoft products, you will adapt quickly to FrontPage.

Given the choice, that you can start out with either one, I'd recommend going with Dreamweaver if you intend to keep building websites.

Hi webseeker, welcome to webmasterworld.

We had quite a good thread on this very topic a little while back.
