Client Email Question

I've been in the processing of helping a client transfer their domain to another a host (and built them a new site). With the transfer and change in providers, they lost their emails.

Is there some way I can create new accounts for them online? Or with their provider? If their domain is mailbox.com - and I wanted to get emails to them when I send to [e-mail], [e-mail], [e-mail], etc...How would I go about doing so?

Unless the service provider has an web admin panel (which they should have) you'll need to contact them and ask...

madcat, what you need is "CatchAll" email address.

this will capture everything like [e-mail]

Hope that helps, its quite easy, and you should NOT be charged extra for this.

usually it can be done by doing *@domain.com

80% of the servers I have used have allowed this.

Cool, thanks for the quick replies. But I'm concerned with how they can actually check this email right away. Say if they are using Outlook or something. So, I set this catchAll up at the host- then the email gets forwarded to their program? What will the settings need to be in order to check the mail- or is it checked elsewhere?

there will be a POP account on the new host. You will need the details for this account so you can login into it with Outlook. You'll need:

POPserver info - usually like mail.yourdomain.com
SMTPserver info - like smtp.yourdomain.com or mail.yourISP.com
