Does it make any difference in listing H1 and H2 tags as follows:
text1 - text2 - text 3
or
text1, text2, text3
or
Our site is about text1, text2 and text3.
I use the first one on both H1 and H2 (different words) but wondered if I'm getting helped, hurt or no difference with search listings. Also a competitor is using a - (dash) as his first character in all his <title> tag and getting consistently higher rankings. Any thoughts on that? Thanks.

In theory search engines will ignore punctuation. Normaly they will class them as a space.

What you can do is experiment by using them in different formats on different pages of your website.

Just let him think that is helping him ;)

Look at his Backlinks & check the anchor text. If he has more links pointing to his website than you have pointing to yours then you must try and get more than him.
