Just a question for clarification in my mind. Who's responsibility is it that the operating system has the necessary files for installing modules? Is it the company or me. The company handling our virtual server provides no assistance, fine, I'm trying to load Frontpage 2002, which their documentation says they support. When I run the install program I get a message that it's missing a file. It has all other files and almost completes install till this one particular file. I don't believe I have access to the main server to reload FreeBSD 4.4 to get this file, if that's what needs to be done. The server is run on Apache 1.3. Sorry for the length of this message, but we've had other issues that the company owned up to as their fault and for a newbie it gets confusing when you think you got it and then you don't because of their issue. Thanks for any light anybody could shed. Thanks.

Tough one indeed. Each hosting provider has their own contract so you'll probably have to take a look at the fine print. Keep digging in and calling them after you have exhausted your resources. It's one way to go from Total Rookie to Total Pro ;)

Those are not operating system modules, but apache modules.
So if you don't have a support contract for software manitenance then it's probably your responsibility.

Search for freebsd handbook, and there, look for ports.
Once you got what it's all about -- in ports, look for apache fp extensions, or whatever they are called.

You don't need to reboot the os, just intall a few things.

Thanks, it is getting clearer by the day. It's my baby and I'll make it live. In a month my library has increased, Absolute BSD, Apache in 24 Hours, Webmin, and all the printed info from online. I will press on. Thanks again for clarification.
