Greetings all and always THANK YOU.
Well reading this forum everyday has saved me both time and $$$
Here is where I am at and where I want to go.
I am in the process of starting a e-commerce and I just got my merchant account, along with my gateway
I am in the process of building a website with a combination of Front page and Dreamweaver(opinions here)as well as a host for the site.
I am going to use oscommerce for my backend.
My question is after I get these pieces of the puzzle together am I overlooking anything?
What else do I need before I go live?
I really don't want to put the horses before the wagon.
I have had great fun trying to accomplish this task which I thought was impossible 6 months ago.
Getting close and excited
THANK YOU

Hi and congrats on getting going. You didn't post anything wrong, people don't always respond right away.

The main things you left out are:
1) TESTING TESTING TESTING
2) TESTING TESTING TESTING
3) How are you planning to market your store?

By investing your time and energy and money into doing this, you are starting a business. If you want it just to be a hobby and bring in a few dollars a month, great, but don't expect much more.

If you intend on this little project supporting you, you will to do lots more work, do it constantly, forget about sleeping for the next few months, and learn, learn, learn.

Dreamweaver is a great tool to make a website. But that's all it is. It won't create a business for you. That's up to you.

What do you know about marketing? Salesmanship? Customer Service and support? So much to learn and do.

have fun with it - it's a great adventure.
