I'm using Dreamweaver MX. I have a few pages up and submitted.

I did them in XHTML 1.0 transitional, like my book suggested.

But I'm wondering? Should I use HTML 4.0 or XHTML 1.0 Strict instead? My site is a regular commercial site.

But, I do want it do be in best compliance and have the best accessibility and usability.

I validated my pages and the report said my CSS styles were not being put in the right place because I had used XHTML 1.0 transitional instead of HTML 4.0?

I'm rather confused and want to do this correctly.

Actually it said there were all sorts of problems BECAUSE I had used XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

What to do? Help?

Thanks, kybel

Dreamweaver isn't very good if you are going to use XHTML. It adds LOTS of additional stuff you don't need, or you just leave it hanging there when you delete something.

I suggest you look up xhtml on w3c to have a better understanding.
