Hey everyone,

I'm new to the whole web development side of web design and development. I've played around a little with Microsoft Frontpage, but now I need something a little more powerful. I'm also looking for sites where I can find some good ecomerce and emarketing stuff. Can someone give a little direction of where I can find these tools and sites?

More powerful in what sense?

Your own performance becomes more powerful if you learn about the concepts behind what WYSIWYG editors are doing for you (and their varying degrees of standards compliance) and then use them as a short-cut when and if you need to.

As far as e-commerce and e-marketing goes, dig in here on this site. Go to a forum that interests you and start looking through the forum library - there are a lot of expert people who have given their advice over the years.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Payne!

MS Frontpage is considered a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. If you're looking for another WYSIWYG editor then Dreamweaver would be an option.

Personally, 'a step up' in my book is to use more of a hand-coding tool like TopStyle. Hand-coding tools allow you to work with the code and then preview what you've built rather than the other way around ala WYSIWYGs.

As for where to get tools and scripts. You're on the best site for learning about what tools and scripts are out there. There are script sites like Hotscripts but it helps to read through WebmasterWorld and learn what other folks think about what you're trying to accomplish first. You may find that your initial direction should be rethought!

Keep in mind that TopStyle CAN be used as a wysiwyg while you're learning hand-coding; it's simply a matter of showing the "Display" window....

There are many sites offering webmaster tools, most shareware sites have some section dedicated to WEb Development or Web Authoring.
[download.com...]

Also Many web "script" sites can have sections dedicated to Software
[hotscripts.com...]
is just one example.

try a google search on "web authoring software".
