Dynamic site, sharing db with other sites

Will the SEs mind the shared db?

I am creating a dynamic site with MS ASP and a database. My host will set up additional sites with their own IP address and will charge a lot less if the new sites share the database used by the first site.

Will SEs frown upon this approach?

They'll never know. Database access all happens on the server side, gathering information which you will then format and send back to the browser or SE spider as a document. The SE will never know that it is being built dynamically and doesn't care.

Technically, I agree. BUT if the content you're publishing looks the same on each of the websites then you might have an issue with getting any sort of ranking in the search engines. They don't like duplicate content.

Oops, the dreaded duplication filter.

What about using the same content page from the database in different locations WITHIN the same IP address?

As a content manager, it would be great to share articles from one section of the website to another.

What about the common practice of letting other sites post my articles with a link back to my site? People say that this is a great way to develop traffic. But it sounds like duplication to me.

What will the SEs think?
