Hi all , i have lots of? and need help into clering them. BTW i am a newbies in Wed development.
I want to create a site that allow ppl to search for (specific product example.. book) .More or less a small search engine. So how do i get about doing so? I will be runing it on my own pc(can it work?) until i see that my site/ideai work.

1)Do i need to buy a Domain name snice i am going to host on my local pc first.

2)Currently i am only runing on 56k , so does it affect the speed on the visitor when they access my site .

3)Is it wrong if i did not inform the party that i am going to host their product on the site(snice i trying to create my site as a serach engine)?

4)How do i charge if let say i allocate one page to thier product(if they want to advertise their product rather than the basic info that i provide FOC ).

5)How to charge for adver(etc banner..)

6)What programe should i use to develope the site? I have crash course on php, asp , java , c++ and HTML(does not mean that i know them as like i say it a crash course or maybe i am not paying attention in class :P)

7)How to secure the site ( I do not want to see ppl hack into it and change the pricing of the product and have my customer hanging me.)

There is lots more of question to come but i do not want to piss off the expert on my first post :P

Thanks for all the help

If you're planning to have people find you, it would certainly help. Doesn't look to professional if someone has to type in numbers xx.xx.xx.xx, or visit you through your ISP's address.

2)Currently i am only runing on 56k , so does it affect the speed on the visitor when they access my site.

Most certainly... you'll likely have a bottle-neck if more than one person tries to access your site at the same time.

You should go to Google, Yahoo, whatever - type in "Web Hosting" - start clicking, and find yourself a company that you're comfortable with to host your site. Trying to do it on the 'real' cheap isn't likely to work.

Search the forums here and you'll find a wealth of information to help you with your additional questions/concerns.

BTW - Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Thanks for answering my question . Was wondering normally how much does it cost to let other host the site . As i have said , i am a newbies and i am quite certain that it may take me forever to get the site running . That why i am thinking to host on my own local pc before committing more $$ into it . Also let say if i upgrade to a broadband does it really help much to ease the bottle neck situation that you mention .
