Uploading Files from a Template?

I recently decided to create a personal web page and after considerable research, I purchased a domain name, along with the recommended software; Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX and Adobe Photoshop 8. I also picked up copies of "Hands-on-Training" for Dreamweaver MX and Flash MX. After reading the manuals and beginning to familiarize myself with the interface of each program, I was able to understand the basics and upload simple text content to my site address.

I then learned of companies which offered pre-designed site templates for download and editing. Although it felt like a shortcut which would most likely teach me nothing regarding coding and site design, I purchased one such template earlier this week. It is a "Flash" template and the instructions are to unzip the files I downloaded (which I have done) and then "upload" those files into the HTML folder for my site. I have been unsuccessful in doing this and was hoping someone might be able to provide assistance. The online help center for TemplateMonster.com offered the following instructions:

-upload files in HTML folder (from downloaded template) via FTP protocol or site manager
-place the file to the "www" or "public_html" folder
-upload the "with_fl/html" folder
-you must then edit the files locally before uploading

My challenge is that I am unable to determine exactly where and how to "upload" the files from the template I purchased, to my site for editing purposes. Can I only accomplish this in Flash MX or should I be working from within Dreamweaver MX as I have been? When I currently access my Dreamweaver Site Panel (local view) I see the following folders:

*Site - Site Name(C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Site Name Files)
*cgi-bin
*stats
*Templates
*Passwd
*index.html

I know the first folder is my site name and the location of the files on my hard drive and the index.html folder is what I click to view my web page. Do I need to create other folders in which to copy the template files I downloaded? For a "what-you-see-is-what-you-get" program such as Dreamweaver, I truly am at a loss as to the process of "uploading" the pre-designed template files to my own site.

I realize to most everyone in this forum these questions are basic and truly show just how novice I am, however, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Jack

Hi Jack_Crow, Welcome to WebmasterWorld,

First thing is too check out the

'Quick Site Setup' guide in the Dreamweaver MX help files,

see Help > Using Dreamweaver or press F1.

Basically you have to create the site (e.g. unzipping your bought template) on your PC and then 'upload' to your hosts PC (normally the folks from whom you purchased your domain). Dreamweaver can make this easy if you set it up right - which is were the reading of the help file comes in.
