I am a little like Orson, trying to get a handle on building a good web site..I have built two, using publishers and I was kind of proud. But the bottom line is I do not generate leads. I recently downloaded Ken Envoys Become a master affiliate. which is terrific, but I gues I need to vastly improve my site building skills..Any pointers for a relative beginner?

>Any pointers for a relative beginner?

1. Pick an industry that is competitive but has "openings".

2. Keep it simple......Very simple!

3. Drive traffic (SEO, sponsorship, email, traditional ads...they all work).

4. To be a successful "middleman" you need to find a market, find an angle, find a way to maniplulate that angle to your advantage, and then look at it everyday....probably several times per day.

It is all about what you can bring to the table that others have ignored, forgot, or not yet seen.

There is a huge amount of money still on the table, it is up for anyone to grab......this will probably not be the case several years from now.......but right now....Go Get It!

We've gone through about 4 or 5 site revisions. I do believe that if you don't interest a visitor immediately (first page), then that visitor is moving on. Remember we're couch potatoes. TV gives about 30 seconds to hook; a site has a major advantage--we can communicate back--if we so choose. The issue is to find what will, if anything, prompt a visitor to turn into a lead. I agree that a higher volume of hits is beneficial, but a million hits and no leads does not aid a business--it's merely ego feed, and the business does not sell from the site but functions more as a library. I also believe that the industry (not gates and company) need to address in a vigilantte way the issue of spammers and hackers--i don't mean breaking their kneecaps or thumbs but some way of excluding these outlaws--remember, it was done in the Early Settlement of the West because only volunteers could enforce ethics in so vast a territory. What is more vast than the internet? (Sorry I diverge somewhat but it is related). I think it lies in the first page and capturing e-mail addresses or at least phone #'s, with content to the right targeted audience.

Dear Percentages,

I forgot to ask, what is a SEO?
