This is one subject it seems like nobody has a firm grasp on to me. Of course, I'm sure lotz do. Ok...so hits tell you nothing. With what can I get the best estimate, ball park figure or remotely close guesstimate on the number of unique visiters to my sites?

Total Unique Sites?
Total Unique URLs?
Total Unique Referrers?

What's pageviews --> Total pages?

It depends I know, but are the packages that come with the hosting companies worthless or do they do the job?

Thanks-

bill

There's a really great article about this by Stephen Turner over on the Analog site entitled How the web works [analog.cx] that does a good job of explaining just what you can infer from your logs.

Hey madcat,
No option to view Visits?

If you haven't already visited these you may find them useful:

Re: page views - the WebmasterWorld Glossary defines it as "Web Page Hits, or number of times a page is viewed.."
