Changing mailboxex for clients

I am in the process of making a mess of....

...my clients e-mail. I am trying to transfer their e-mail accounts when I transfer the domain.

Only I have no idea how to do this.

do I need to assign each user(current) a forwarding e-mail address?

Anybody have experience of tranferring domains where the e-mail was being used before the site was up and running?

IF this is a different domain altogether (not just moving the same domain to another server), you can set them up with email addresses on the new domain and just forward the old ones. Then, send your clients the required login info for the new addresses. They will want to notify everyone of the change. You may want to leave the old addy's up for a month and make sure the client contacts anyone using the old addresses.

I think I have solved the problem by setting up two Outlook mail accounts for each user. Then they will receive mail from both the old and the new account.

As you say, I will ask them to remove the old account eventually But the e-mail addresses are the same, so I shouldn't need to ask them to contact everyone to notify them of the change, right?
