Following the last update I got good news from MSN being ranked #1 on my top keyword. On my 2nd keyword I got a #3 rank only below the actual manufacturers website. My question though is how is it possible to rank so high on MSN and be nowhere to be found on google or yahoo. I heard that MSN ranks new sites better and mine is fairly new. Am I waiting for Yahoo and Google to play catch up? Or is there some other factors to focus on to climb in those rankings?

Thanks

It's easier to rank high in MSN than for the other 2

You need to do much more work to rank on Y ..and much more again to rank on G ..( and spending your money on adwords is easier on G ..at least that is the message g is trying to give out ..none too subtly over the last year )..

others may disagree ;)

Adwords yes is a way to get on Google but not for organic search. I find all of my sites rank very well on MSN as well Google and Yahoo. I have even done a test with Google with a brand new ad sense site with one link pointing back and with good content and it was uploaded to a site last week and is listed on page 11 for a good keyword. I feel if you continue to supply good quality content and get quality links back to your website. You should be able to rank on all search engines sometimes it just takes time.

Not wishing to rain on your parade ..and hopefully "11" is a typo for "1"..cos if not ..who is ever gonna look as far as page 11 for anything ..

Yes that was an example of how google had indexed the site within 2 weeks without promotion.

As for searching past the second page your statement is very true. Very true I don't even go past the first page anymore however, I have found in my logs that people have gone as deep as the 11th page in google for some reason for some of my terms and yes they do convert but rare.

Likewise, my site is ranking higher in MSN, but not in Yahoo and Google. And I also observed the same thing, that my msn results changes everyday, and keeps toogling within the first three positions in MSN.

What I noticed about MSN is it jumps positions every week like sudden change from 1 - 2 position to 9 - 12th position which is a large jump in position.

IMO whenever MSN indexes new site pages it ranks high due to which we can't find a stable SERPs.
