Microsoft Bing has announced there's a new Turing Image Super Resolution model to enhance any image. It's being used in Bing Maps on the aerial imagery covering the vast majority of the globe, and also "Azure Maps satellite imagery for their own products and services."

Interestingly, it's starting roll this out to enhance all images users see on the Web. The goal, it says, is to turn Microsoft Edge browser into an AI-powered "4K TV."

In this blog post Microsoft goes into an explanation of the machine-learning super-resolution of images, and the scaling-up of images. The Ariel view on Maps is already there, and the enhancement in Microsoft Edge is currently shipped in Edge Canary, rolling it out to more users in the coming months.
The ultimate mission for the Turing Super-Resolution effort is to turn any application where people consume or create media into an “HD” experience. Whether that’s your favorite websites in Edge, video calls in Teams, family photos in OneDrive, or a medical imaging software built on Azure. We are closely working with key teams across Microsoft to make that a reality in more places and on more devices.
