Any thoughts on this puzzle. I have a dynamic site using mod rewrite and had 14,000 pages in msn. This week it dropped close to 7,000 pages.

anyone else experience this.

only changes i done are some backlinks off another site i own and added some links on my inventory listings pages.

Helpppppp.

I don't want to say "don't worry", because I think you should - it's not good to see your numbers falling. However, the same thing has happened to my site, and I haven't done anything new to it. I have fresh content every day (user-supplied - it's a sort of listing/directory/advertising niche site), and my numbers have been fluctuating every day. Following Easter, when the amount of new content daily has significantly dropped, my numbers have dropped by 75%.

I'm having trouble getting MSN to index my whole site anyhow - we have over 100k pages listed in Google (which I think is slightly more than there should be) and *before* the drop we had only around 3k in MSN.

MSN *really* doesn't seem to like deep content, and it really likes fresh content IMHO.

Can I ask a couple of questions? How have you structured your site (for indexing purposes); what kind of internal links policy do you have; how "fresh" is your content?

And if anyone else can shed light on why MSN would index pages and then drop them when "total pages indexed" seems to be a key stat in the SE wars, then I'd be intrigued to hear.

I'm having a similar problem, the other day I noticed that I had dropped off in MSN. I just thought it was normal fluxuation in the SERP's, but then after reading the above posts, I checked and found out that MSN is listing my home page last. I did the <snip> and that's how I found out that my home page was last. It also looks like it isn't reading my meta or title tags. If anyone has any suggestions I'll be more than happy to listen to them.

Thanks in advance
