One of my sites used to be indexed in MSN Search and ranked great, now ever since they went to Live Search we have vanished. When I do url:www.my-domain.com and site:www.my-domain.com there are no results - we are completely gone.

I have pm'd MSNDude (which I figureed would get me no where), I have also emailed webspam@microsoft.com and have not heard anything for weeks.

Our site does great in Yahoo and Google, however.

Anyone have any advice? Has this happened to others? And if so, have you found a way to get re-indexed successfully? What should we do?

(And as you've read many others say) We don't practice any intentional spamming/black hat techniques. We have a very clean site with lots of quality backlinks and original content.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

What's going on with MSN is anyone's guess. I'm a long time fan of Microsoft. I'm in their small business directory and I'm a stockholder too.

But MSN Search is a mess. I was just looking at my log files and saw a referral for a three word term. MSN had exactly 119 results. I was in position 119. From what I could tell I was one of the few sites that actually addressed this person's question. That's why they went all the way to the end of the result to find my site.

I posted my dialog with MSN Help about my ranking. They say no penalty exists, just a problem with ranking. Well they've got non-English sites, myspace junk and even songs ahead of me.

I'm going to say it...

MSN Search is Officially Pathetic.

That's right pathetic and that entire organization should be ashamed that this is the best they can do two years after launch. And my prediction is Vista is only going to highlight the fact that MSN / Live is unusable in its present state.

DO SOMETHING MSN! You've got nothing to lose.

I totally agree. MSN is PATHETIC and has been for the last months.
Not even thei Mapsare accurateandthat is also pathetic! I searched for my house and Google maps have no problem with it andyou would think a map is a map, but not in MSN's world.
Maybe they think that if 2 houses are alike, then one of them must be a spam-house?

Pathetic? OH, YES!

So is there any advice to at least get re-included in the MSN Live index?

Nope! Nobody knows exactly why they (we) gets banned. You are probably seen as a spammer by their new algo.
PM'ing MSNDude doesn't help since it seems he has abandoned us or he got fired for the s***y search results.
Reinclusion doesn't help since you need to fix what is wrong first (whatever is wrong you won't know for sure). Even if you clean up your site it'll take months before they let you in again.
I'd say MSN is a lost case and they will dwindle away here pretty soon! No web master will care to even be there anymore and a lot of them even stop MSN from crawling since all they do is eat up your bandwidth for nothing!

No point flaming MSNdude, he is not responsible to the algo, for your site mistakes or open interlinking, which you have mentioned more than once in more than once thread here.

It's fine to have an opinion about lousy search results and a lousy / algo engine, but to say it is MSNdude's fault is akin to saying that your accountant is responsible because you owe alot in taxes this year.

here's an update:

I have had a Hotmail account for years and emailed them regarding this problem - after eight million emails back and forth they finally forwarded my request to Live Search. Then I had to endure another eight million emails back and forth with them, but they finally said they will re-index my site within 7-10 days. Today (a few days later) I checked and they have my homepage indexed only, but it's a start!

Good for you!
I was tole a month ago that "one of my sites" was OK and that they would include it again, but so far nothing!

Why so many emails back and forth? Did they tell you what to change? What DID you change to get back in?
