MSN vs. Yahoo Traffic

Just wondering what everyone else sees in the volume of traffic in MSN vs. Yahoo for PPC. Right now for every 100 visitors I get in MSN I get 200 visitors in Yahoo. The thing that confuses me is according to the ratings, Bing is supposed to have nearly as much traffic as Yahoo. Does that mean that my PPC ads are not performing as well in MSN? What type of split are you guys seeing?

generally... similar splits observed across many accounts.

recent article in the wsj about how comscore "counts" traffic said...

ComScore has shifted how it reports its data after Yahoo's "contextual searches" skewed results in June. While comScore's definition of a search included the traditional search-box query type of searches, it also included some automatic search results that pop up without a user entering a specific query. Now, the group is measuring U.S. explicit core searches, which exclude contextual searches that don't reflect any intent by users.

Y's ppc traffic has been inflated by adware popups and other shenanigans for a very long time... once this merger goes through, it is my opinion that one of two things will happen...

M will learn to look the other way and keep this garbage traffic and everyone here will be complaining about the worsening roi there at M+Y...


or M will figure out the games that have been played with the numbers and the shat shenanigans of Y's past will be completely unmasked...

time will tell if i'm just a delusional whacko. :-)

by that, i mean, someone's got to be wrong here - the reported shares or the behaviors most people see... we'll find out soon.
