Predicting ad placement by cpc - Is it posible?

You would think there would be tool for this.

Its so hit and miss. I pay 1.00 a click and wait a few hours or so for them to reposition my ad, then I have to wait until the NEXT day (looking at reports) before I found out the cost, THEN I have to slowly go down on the bid to see if im able to maintain the position.

I have no CLUE as to what others are bidding and after I do ALL this they can out bid me again and I will have to start all over.

Its ridiculous. I have wasted hundreds of dollars testing ad positions.

Why cant I just enter an amount cpc and get an estimate of my position or at LEAST be able to see what others are paying?
