Random Rejects of Keywords

MSN Adcenter Keyword Rejected

It seems like someone sits there and just randomly clicks "ok" or "no" because there is no sense at all in the logic of what words were rejected and what was accepted. For Example "Widgets" was rejected but "widgets orlando" was accepted yet "widgets florida" was rejected.

"widgets california" was accepted but "widgets texas" with reps in the major cities was rejected?

My favorite was "widget photos" was accepted but "pictures of widget" was rejected

Anyone else having these kinds of issues? Delete and resubmit? Write a scathing email?

Tips anyone?

I think its a bug.

I kept deleting and resubmitting, and I got them all in within the 4th or 5th time. The whole process took about half an hour.

Im sure if their was a person at the other end, I would have heard something.

hello,
when you're importing XLS or CSV lists, be careful of dups. the tool actually recognizes words such as "of" and "for" as dups. so something like:

widgets for investors

and

widgets of investors

would be seen as dups, and your upload would not work.

we've received a lot of user feedback on the import functionality and it's definitely on our list of items to work on.

if your dups look good let me know and i'll see if something else is going on with your lists.

AC411--VCC is not referring to the list being rejected, he referring to random keywords being flagged as "rejected" for no apparent reason. You need to reread the post.

I've had this same problem. The approval algorithm definitely needs work. I know the keywords I'm using are relevant because I've been using them in another PPC program, but anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of the words will be flagged as "rejected" when I add them to an order.

lgn1: Thanks that worked... delete the rejects resubmit and 1/2 of those are accepted... do it again and 1/2 of those are accepted until finally they are all accepted.

Now thats a great workaround... but I have THOUSANDS of words on Yahoo and personally the thought of putting them all in once has already turned me off of really taking advantage of this new program... the thought of doing them, then deleting 1/2 and redoing, etc, etc is just a tad too much busy work for me.

Surely if the spend is good enough I can find a rep to push stuff through or at least manually review.

I wanted to add that one of the phrases that I've been rejected for, "widgets texas" says the reason is "landing page isn't relevant" HOWEVER... I show up #1 on the natural MSN listings for this term... I guess I won't spend a bunch of time trying to resubmit that one... but I thought that was funny

Am I missing an easy way to delete and resubmit the rejects? I'm finding the process very cumbersome. It's definitely taking longer than 1/2 hour.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is struggling with this. I have had tons of keywords randomly rejected for no apparent reason. I haven't tried resubmitting them yet, but I'll give that a try.

My lists look something like this...

Blue Wigit = Approved
Blue Wigits = Rejected
Green Wigit = Approved
Green Wigits = Approved

How about this:

I had a bunch of kws accepted, needed to add a parameter for tracking, so I had to delete and resubmit. The exact same kws with a parameter added, and, you guessed it, a bunch of them are now rejected.

I complained to support, apparently there is an appeals template you can fill out and submit, but its BS to have to do this.

xor0 don't bother with the appeals.

If you are following the guidelines, just resubmit a few times until they are accepted. The Adcenter automatic rejection/acceptance algrothim is just totally messed up.

AdCenter sees "Widget" and "Widgets" as same thing. However, when someone searches fo "Widgets", your ad will still show up. Furthermore, words such as "of, in, the" will filter out, so don't use them as part of your kwd.

Also, you gotta understand that AdCenter is still in Beta, so you should expect errors.

I resubmitted the kws and sadly all were rejected again. These are kws that were previously all accepted.

Guess I'll have to use the appeals form...

The only reason I get is "Inaccessible website".

Of course the ad preview links to [domain.com...] so it's impossible to verify what the reviewers saw. I wonder if they had the same problem...

First, the preview really needs to give a preview of the ad the visitor will see, complete with Param functionality. Second, if I can verify it does work, let me resubmit from that screen.

Like others, I have many thousands of words to submit. The easier you make submission and resubmission, the faster I pay you for clicks on all of those words. Our goals are the same in this regard... ;)

I have faced a great deal of rejected kws because of the keywords being used. I was adding model numbers of our products and we have for example EX-2000, and so also to offer the other EX2000 in case searchers didn't use a "-". Assuming a - and a " " (space) are the same or is MSN different. For every upload I try, hundreds will be rejected as dups. The best explanation I've had was by and Adcenter Support rep who said that "our technology called normalization" that strips out extraneous characters. It just so happens that its cutting out model numbers that have a -x on the end etc. What gives?
