Is it advisable to place word Menu next to hamburger icon?

I think you've answered your own question. Most people are already used to seeing the hamburger and realise it's a menu. It's become mature UI now

It depends how it fits with your page layout and design. I think this is not mandatory, to add the word "Menu", but, it blend well with your page design, it can be interesting to keep it.

Yes people are in use, but not necessarily everybody. Every day, new people are coming online, everyday, new people are starting to use their smartphone to navigate the internet.

It's a common design pattern by now, but not necessarily an intuitive one. It's a little more obvious if you add "menu".

This would be a good candidate for an A/B test.

An acquaintance showed me a site they were working on last year, where the developer when told to add a hamburger menu to the WordPress site took the request literally and used an image of a hamburger for the menu. It was actually kind of cool.

Nothing wrong with having both ... after all, there's the accessibly consideration as well.

That said, my testing, over the past decade, has consistently shown the ‘winner’ is an amalgamation:
* the word MENU in upper case (in a clear clean font)
* beneath
* the three line ‘hamburger’ icon
* within a bright eye catching
* but still within site colour palette
* icon/button
Basically, having it all :)

Some variations in degree made made minor differences, ie all upper in place all lower case. However, singular eye grab colour plus both hamburger and word together have consistently shown ~40% positive difference in usage/conversion over a more blended single word or hamburger.

Only thing I can say is MENU is unambiguous and the burger also works (mostly for those on phones) though phone users still use MENU if the page doesn't have a burger on it.

I suspect MENU will continue to work into the future, burgers or not.

Mostly this is a design choice on who to cater to going forward.

Meanwhile, Belt and Suspenders covers all the bases. :)
