We know the average mobile page takes more than 7 seconds to load, and by using the PageSpeed Insights tool and following its speed recommendations, you can make your page load much faster.
Key recommendations are to...
- configure the viewport
- size your content to the viewport
- use legible font sizes
- make touchscreen tap targets large enough to use
- and avoid plug -ins.
I can foresee an eventual Panda-like quality algo for "outliers" at the bottom end (eg, sites much slower loading than the norm) as Matt Cutts discussed in this video....
