I am thinking of starting a Mac Community and felt it would be good to know your thoughts.

One line answer required.

If I were to say the word "Macintosh", what can you think of the future for this word?

Good or Bad?

Thank you for the help.

Vishal,

I really do not understand what your question is, could you please clarify?

Thanks

I am sorry, seems like last night too much work and coffee made me all crazed up.

We are thinking of setting up a Macintosh community (Software Directory, News, Macintosh related updated, .. etc). I have talked to few friends, however some tend to think that in coming years Macintosh will be no where to found and time spend on creating such community would be a total waste as a long term investment.

So what meant to ask was.

What do you think about the future of Macintosh? or Does Macintosh have a future big enough to invest in setting up a 'worthwhile' community for it?

Again thank you for your help.

That's been the case for as long as I can remember. And it's tended to be the case that the most pessimistic soothsayers haven't even used a Mac for real!

As far as I can recall, Apple's market share is growing at a statistically significant rate, and certainly amongst the software professionals I use, a growing number are buying Macs for home use because of the significant advantages they enjoy over PCs.

Of course, if you do set up this "community", they'll tell you that themselves....
Even WebmasterWorld has a Mac community, as you found for yourselves when you discovered a whole thread devoted to Macs....

PS : I program PCs for my living, and have two Macs at home for my *real* life....

a Macintosh community (Software Directory, News, Macintosh related updated, .. etc).

The Mac community, imho, is saturated with software directories, news, and rumor sites. I'd look for some unique added value if you plan on competing against what already exists.

Does Macintosh have a future big enough to invest in setting up a 'worthwhile' community for it?

There are active community sites out there for the Newton... so it doesn't matter if the "theme" of a community is in current production. Community sites require a bit of nurturing and care for them to really take off. Typically this means the community starter is pretty fervent about the "theme," so if you have to ask...
