Apple has taken a further step towards the completion of its transition to Intel processors by introducing new Mac minis, at the same time discontinuing their PowerPC-based predecessors.

So who wants one, and what will you use it for?

And does anyone know about performance of Unix-style apps (n.b., Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl) on Intel Macs?

We ordered one for our conference room. We made our old mini think it was an iMac so we could use FrontRow. Now with the new mini we'll be able to have a remote and FrontRow native.

The folks in my favorite computer shop warned me that the Intel-based Macs don't support System 9. If you're a dinosaur like me who still runs quite a few things on System 9, you'll need to allow for the cost of software upgrades.
