I'm still with 10.3.9, haven't upgraded to 10.4. It's $129, so no biggie, but I wonder if I'll regret it with performance issues.

So, tell me, is Tiger grrrrreat? Or a yawn.

BTW: My Mac is getting a bit sluggish.

I've found that older Macs run Tiger OK, but only if they have >256Mb RAM. My wife's 500 MHz iBook G3 with 384 Mb RAM runs OK (not blazingly fast) but I'm happier when a Tiger box has at least 512Mb.

In my book, Tiger's a big improvement. I like Dashboard Widgets and Spotlight, the new Safari, and they fixed some Unix things that make Perl easier to work with.

Thanks, Tim. That's about what I suspected, only I didn't have the specifics. I think I won't put Tiger in my tank until I upgrade hardware. <sigh: will the spending never end?>
