I have a G4 Dual 500 that is being used as a file server. The machine is completely controled through local Automator scripts and Apple Remote Desktop. There is no screen on it, but It won't let me change the resolution past 1024 x 768. Remote admining it with a G5 and 23" the resolution of the machine would be much better if I could crank it up instead of having such a dinky resolution. '

Does anyone have any idea how to force a resolution?

I wouldn't doubt that 1024 x 768 is the max the Dual 500 can handle. I want to say I ran into the same problem w/ my Cube.

I'm certain it can handle higher screen resolutions than 1024x768. As far as changing that setting without a monitor attached that will "tell" the computer it can, I'm less sure.

Perhaps the command line app cscreen [pyehouse.com] is an answer? I've also been researching a couple GUI apps to do it, either DisplayConfigX [3dexpress.de] or SwitchRes X [madrau.com] should do the trick. I've not used any of those apps, but they all seem to be capable enough.
