Hi everyone, I just found this site and thought maybe someone would know the answer to this question...

A little background first... I work at a weekly newspaper on a Mac (OS 9something) and have a PC (Windows XP) at home... I am looking for a web design program that is available on BOTH platforms... ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Thanks bunches!

Welcome to the forums, TeeQ.

Major graphics programs such as Photoshop are available for both Mac and PC, as is the wysiwyg web editor Dreamweaver. However, the latest Mac versions are usually only available for Mac OSX these days, not for OS9 or other Mac Classic OS versions.

Thank you for the info... that was pretty much all I found... I have PS on both computers already (neccessary for work and playing at home) but haven't used Dreamweaver at all yet... guess I have some learning to do...

Thanks again!

TeeQ,

I don't know if this will be any help or not, but I do know that you can convert InDesign layouts straight to HTML docs. I don't know how effective it is, and I don't know how browser-compatible it is. Just some food for thought, being you are on OS 9 and are probably familiar with InDesign already. My guess is, that you'll need to know HTML to tweak the pages once exported, as I don't expect it would be a very clean export; being it's not what the program was designed for ... like I said, maybe something to consider looking into.

Anyone here ever tried it?

find a copy of Adobe GoLive 6

it is only a couple years old, but it compatible with OS 9 and OS X

It also works with XP.

Basically your only good options are Dreamweaver (Macromedia) and GoLive (Adobe). Your best bet is to look for a Mac OS 9 version of one of these on eBay since Adobe just bought out Macromedia (which means one of these products will disappear) and you are running Mac OS 9.
