Death of the floppy drive?

Do any self respecting MAC users still use floppy drives?

I'm on an iMac and have an external floppy drive that I haven't used for well over a year. I didn't buy it, I inherited it. I use my Zip drive sometimes, mostly for backups.

Ive wished my Mac has had a floppy drive many times, those of which happened to be when it wasn't on a network though :P other than that I hotline it all over the network (:

I used the floppy drive just yesterday....a floppy from my wifes work PC ;)

I have a floppy, but I don't use it. With a zip drive, SmartMedia reader, and CD-ROM (also got a CD-RW at work), I never need one.

I have not used a floppy in years. I just use USB miniture pocket drives or e-mail the file.

Still using a floppy (with my iMac) on regular basis - always to exchange files with PCs. Some of us are still on dial-up connections you know (!), so emailing 1MB files gets expensive.

The last 5 times I had to use a floppy disk was as a boot disk to reinstall Windows.

I doubt it's cheaper sending a diskette via snail mail. Could still be a good alternative between home and work for tiny files.

I love my zip drives... I carry two zip disks in a softcase in my purse, and store all my current working files and most frequently used personal files on them. Then I back up any changes to my home HD whenever needed.

Zip drives can be useful, for personal use. Its just like a diskette on steroids.

But if I want to send a big file to prospect or client in a remote erea, I wont do it on a 10 $.ca disk. CD's are very cheap to buy, burn and snail mail.

Oh, CD-Rs are definitely the way to go for professional file delivery. If I'm doing a design job for a client who will be using the production files when I'm done, I burn them to CD-R and deliver it after I receive the final payment.

Network, Email, FTP, Zips, CD-R and CD-RW for me.
I haven't used a Floppy in years!

I even removed the floppy drive from my Beige G3 and placed the internal Zip in it's place when I installed OS X in it, because OS X does not support the Beige G3 floppy drive (but does support USB floppy drives).

Looking forward for a USB minidrive though.

There may be loads of ways of transferring files that are more efficient, however, I use a floppy drive at least 20-30 times a day (although it's mostly to rebuild a broken pc). They are cheap and easily bootable.

They've still got my vote.
