I love my mac, I bought it for design but the colors look great overall but the colors I make in Freehand are not accurate at all. A very light pale lime green turns out to be a very dark green once printed or turned into a gif or jpeg, all the colors come out wrong and I have no idea why.

Have you ever gone through the process of calibrating your monitor? Are you outputting directly from Freehand?
There are so many things that could be causing this...

travelin cat is most correct. Calibration of your monitor is probable your first step. Getting a printer that you can calibrate would be another advantage.
Color adjustment in just one program though? Sounds like you might need to take a look at the knowledge base...
That link did the trick! Thanks, I am so excited now. The default setting was not the default mentioned in the macrodedia link. I just switched to the kodak colors and it was fixed in the first try.
