Widget management in 10.4.2

Does this version offer the ability to place widgets on desktop

I was under the impression that this version allows widgets to be seen on the desktop (a la Konfabulator) instead of having to open Dashboard.

The new widget manager is cool, but I do not see this option anywhere.

Does anyone know if this exists (and I am missing it) or if Apple chose not to add this functionality...

thanks.

It is possible -- it might be a bug though.

Press F12 or whatever button you have set to get to the Widgets. Then ppress the plus (+) button at the bottom left to get a list of new widgets. Grab one and drag it from the dock. Press F12. Bingo a widget on your desktop.

When you press F12 it'll go back to the widget desktop.

danec,

Thanks for that explanation.

Boy is that lame. When you go back to the widget desktop, the one created on the real desktop disappears, and just as bad, if not worse, the widget floats above everything else.

Apple really needs to take a look at how Konfabulator widgets work... they can have their opacity on their skin changed, they can float on the desktop, do as the Mac does and stay on top of everything or they can be "cemented" in to place on the desktop for easy reference.

Unusual for anything Mac like to be so poorly thought out.

I think this is actually a debugging feature.

It's handy to be able to see the results of edits to a Widget without having to go back and forth to the Widget layer repeatedly.
