Firewire Drives turning off at shutdown

New iMac G5 keeps firewire drives on...

I have two firewire drives (HD for back up and a cd burner). On my old G4 they both shut off when I shut down my mac.

Now with my new (awesome) G5 iMac, they stay on after I shut it off.... is there any way to configure the Mac to shut them down with it and then have them come on at start up as with my G4?
