Server Site Structure

Where to put each folder?

We have an Xserve running OSX, and 3 sites. Where is the best place to put each site on the server? Should each site be in it's own folder in the "Sites" folder?

I know this sounds kind of basic, but I'm not sure what to consider when placing my site folders. We were on shared hosting so right now we have 2 site folders contained within the files for another site.

There are many way to host multiple domains, depending on if you have multiple IP's, etc. and either of your solutions will work, to answer your question, as long as Apache know where to look for them. Something to take into consideration is whether you have users logging onto these sites themselves or is it all controlled at your end... Either way, a great piece of information that I've visited many times can be found here:

Take a look at what it has to say. By no means are the suggestions "concrete", as they are simply Apple's recommendations... But it's really good information none-the-less.
