I am new to the world of Mac's having just purchased a new Mac Mini for testing sites.
I am wondering if there is a piece of Mac software equivalent to Ghost for Windows, which will allow me to take a system image and restore it down the track.
Any advice you can offer in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Depending on your Mac, there are various ways to do this. One way is to simply use and external firewire drive, and sofware like "Retrospect" to regularly back up the entire system. This system then can be coppied in whole to any Mac HD. As easy as drag and drop. :0) Unlike Windows, you CAN swap the HD's from Mac to Mac with the reasonable expectation that the Operating System will run... This is the way I've been doing it for years. You WILL need a software to back your drive up though (as mentioned earlier I use Retrospect), since conventional backups will not allow you to copy any files that are in use. Another way to get around this, is to boot from a program called "Disk Warrior" (Or OS boot Cd, or ANY boot CD for that matter) and swap your files from your Mac's HD (Not in use when booted from CD) to the external HD. Do the same to copy file FROM said HD to new sys... And around and around we go ;0)
