Okay, I give up. Where is it?

Started using OS X.3.8 via one of these superb Mac Mini's, however I can't find the euro symbol and it's annoying the hell out of me

Keyboard shows the euroglyph as shift-alt-2, but that brings up ™ instead.

I see that you can insert via Finder >Edit >Special Characters, but there must be an easier way to access it?

shift+alt+2 works for me in OSX - it might be that you're using a Font that doesn't support the euro symbol? The "Font Book" application in /Applications/ might help.

Tried that; regardless of font used the euro symbol will not show via the designated keys. It must be hiding somewhere else...

I get TM with shift+alt+2 however, alt+2 brings up the Euro Symbol. My keyboard is set to British layout. I tried changing it to US and found that the positions reverse: alt+2 brings up TM, while shift+alt+2 is Euro.

Also, go to the International panel in the System Prefs. Click on the Input Menu. Then, check the "Keyboard Viewer" and the "Show input menu in the Menubar".

An American flag (or other flag if you have it set to another language) will show in the menu bar. Click on it and select "Show Keyboard Viewer" and you can see what all the Alt, Control, shift and other stuff does with different fonts. (...basically this is like the old Key Caps but harder to find and turn on...)

Had a look through keyboard viewer and this shows the euro symbol as command + alt + 2. However, this didn't work either...

Please to say that alt + 2 now brings up € (hurrah!), although I would swear that this didn't work earlier in the day as a couple of us tried as many permutations as we could think of around the shift/alt/ctrl/command keys..:-)

<added>Thanks for that solly; looks like you posted whilst I was composing the above. Interestingly the (British) keyboard viewer gives both command+alt+2 and alt+2 for €. Only the latter works though. </added>
